And then I suddenly realized I finished this at 4 in the morning.
I've had the idea for this since early this year when the second year was winding down. While I was thinking about doing it, I immediately figured "there's no fucking way I'll do it in Sketchbook." Sketching it? Sure. The textures and detail I would need for it? Hell no. So this is pretty much a 95% Photoshop job (final line-art was done in SAI and then colored back in Shop). I worked on it a bit early in August and then finished it over the last two days.
Although I thought Adam and Dog was the better of the last Oscar's nominees, I like Paperman a lot. I would go into a five minute rant about how it could have been done traditionally instead of spending millions more in new technologies, as well as how Disney is saying how great hand-drawn animation is while they're firing their animators. But the short's got a great visual appeal and an enjoyabily told tale of "fuck work, I'm in love!". Better than the movie it accompanied I thought and it looks like it'll be the case again for Disney this year.
